Top tips when looking for external demand generation support

1 in 5 companies says their current approach to demand generation isn’t working.

This is often because creating the strategy can be difficult and executing it requires specific skills – which can be costly to have in-house. But luckily, there are plenty of companies out there that can support you.

To help you find the right support, we’ve created this checklist:

 Demand generation checklist

⬜ Make sure their proposal is tailored specifically to you and the business challenges and needs that you’ve flagged in the initial meet and greet sessions.

💡Top tip: The good ones will create a tailor-made proposal focusing on specific challenges and explain why they’ve suggested these tactics.

⬜ Checking in on timelines – They should already flag project timelines to you ahead of starting so you know when your demand journey begins.

💡Top tip: The ones that follow best practice will be prepared to fluctuate from plans to ensure you can quickly adapt to change or react to new trends (like hot topics).

⬜ Make sure they are commercially driven and focus on reporting and results.

💡Top tip: Case studies are a great way to see the impact they could have.

⬜ Make sure they can do everything from strategy to execution – and are happy to access your systems to manage it for you.

💡Top tip: We recommend checking who will be managing and overseeing the entire process – you want to make sure you have the expert through and through rather than being passed to a more junior team member that may not have the experience you need.

⬜ Make sure they don’t just focus on one area of marketing. There are a lot of niche companies out there that specialise in say paid social media and so don’t consider/haven’t got experience in the wider demand gen marketing plan.

💡Top tip: We recommend looking for demand generation experts that have experience managing all areas of marketing so that they can look at the bigger picture and generate demand across multiple channels.

⬜ Make sure they fit your budget. It’s often best to flag how much you are prepared to spend upfront to save time everyone’s time.
